Nantahala Gorge
Just 20 minutes west of Bryson City on US19, the Nantahala Gorge is a must-see destination for anyone visiting the Bryson City area, even if you do nothing more than enjoy the rivers incredible beauty.
Rafting and Kayaking
The Nantahala is one of the most popular whitewater rafting destinations in the country. A family friendly river suitable for all ages providing the kids are at least 7 years old or at least 60 pounds. There are a number of outfitters offering guided and self-guided trips on a variety of raft styles. Our favorites include Endless River Adventures, Wildwater Rafting and Nantahala Outdoor Center. Smaller children, age four and older can raft on the Tuckasegee River; we recommend Tuckasegee Outfitters. |
Zip Line Canopy Tours
Two Nantahala Outfitters offer zipline rides through the treetops and down the gorge — Nantahala Gorge Canopy Tours and Nantahala Outdoor Center. |
